I turned a VIP programme from a list of perks into a coherent system of status, communication and player experience.

Context
The VIP programme read as a list of benefits. Every piece was designed in isolation, so the brand spoke in several registers at once — one on the card, another in email, another on the invitation.
What was missing was hierarchy and ritual: a reason for a player to think of the programme as status rather than as one more discount.
It also had to grow — more tiers, more occasions, more collateral. Without rules, every addition would deepen the mess.

Decision
Rather than adding more perks, I built a system of tiers and rituals. Status became the substance of the communication instead of a footnote: every threshold has its own mark, its own moment and its own way of being announced.
“Status has to be visible before anyone reads the terms.”

Outcome
A player sees their status before they read the first line of terms — the exact thing missing at the start. Cards, invitations and campaigns now speak in one voice, built from the same rules.
The system is clear enough that the team adds new tiers and occasions on its own, without running each new piece past me.
